Every year, a fantastic choice of festive events takes place across Norfolk. From markets to festivals and pantos to concerts, you’ll find more than enough to keep you busy this winter. To help you plan your seasonal calendar, and get the best out of Norfolk, we’ve picked a few of our favourite events taking place in the county over the coming weeks.  

The Festive Food Fair, Holkham Hall, 16th–17th December

The perfect way to get in the festive mood, this mouth-watering event showcases the best seasonal produce and Christmas treats from around the county. Held in the stunning 18th-century Holkham Hall, the festival features live cooking demonstrations, musical entertainment and a great choice of stands.

The Norwich Ice Rink, 15th December–7th January

If you over-indulged in mince pies and other festive treats, you can work off the calories at the Norwich Ice Rink. Located in the Castle Mall Gardens, it’s a great place to show off your acrobatic ability. Festive tunes dominate the soundtrack, forcing you to get well and truly into the Christmas spirit.

Harleston Christmas Lights Switch on and Market, 1st December

Located between Bungay and Diss, the pretty village of Harleston puts a lot of work into its festive celebrations. On Saturday 1st December, the local Christmas lights are being switched on. To help celebrate the event, the village is hosting a Christmas market and traditional craft fair. Festivities take place in the Harleston Market Square. The market will open at 9:30am and run right through till 6pm.

Bungay Christmas Street Market, Sunday 2nd December

If you still haven’t got all your presents, or if you just want to stock up on a little more festive cheer, you can make a weekend of it by heading to the Bungay Christmas Street Market on Sunday 2nd December. Held in the centre of the picturesque market town, it’s the perfect place to pick up unique presents, enjoy some seasonal treats and get in the festive spirit.

Aladdin, Norwich Theatre Royal, 12th December–13th January

If your festive season wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the panto, this event is for you. This year, the Theatre Royal’s annual pantomime is Aladdin. Featuring a number of well-known faces, this classic tale is perfect for all the family. Book your tickets early to avoid disappointment.
