A look back at 2019

Just like every year that’s come before it, 2019 brought action, excitement and a lot of fantastic events to both Musker McIntyre and Norfolk as a whole. From promotions and paintings to races and royal shows, there really was something for everyone.

Now, with 2019 drawing to a close, we thought we’d take this opportunity to look back on some of the most unique, most enjoyable and most exciting events of the past twelve months.  Throughout our offices in Norwich, Loddon, Beccles, Bungay, Diss, Halesworth and Harleston all our teams here at Musker McIntyre Estate Agents have been engaging with the communities that we live and work in, bringing people together through our work within the local areas that we cover - in short,
we are "Passionate about People and Property".

The Canaries get promoted
For many people living Norwich and the surrounding area, the most memorable event of the year took place back in the spring when Norwich FC won promotion to the Premier League. Bringing top-flight football back to Norfolk, and giving local businesses – and local morale – a real boost, this fantastic achievement gave fans of the Canaries something to really sing about.

Norfolk and Norwich Open Studios
For two weeks at the end of May and the beginning of June, artists in Norwich and the surrounding area threw open the doors to their homes and studios and invited the general public in to have a look. As well as being a fantastic opportunity to learn a little more about the local art scene – and maybe even pick up a few pieces of your own – this was a great chance to see inside the city’s homes and artistic space. If you missed Open Studios in 2019, the event will be back in 2020.

The Great Bungay Duck Race
Back in July we once again sponsored The Great Bungay Duck Race and gathered by the banks of the River Waveney to cheer on competitors in one of the hardest-fought competitions of the year: The Great Bungay Duck Race.

Now in its fifth year, the race sees hundreds of brightly coloured birds take to the water and battle it out for the title of Norfolk’s fastest rubber duck. As well as the race itself – which is sponsored by Musker McIntyre – we enjoyed delicious local food and drink, live music and a great atmosphere.  Looking forward to seeing you at Falcon Meadow, Bungay next summer.

The Royal Norfolk Show
The Royal Norfolk Show is always one of the biggest and best events of the year and the 2019 extravaganza was no different. The show featured everything from showjumping and champion livestock to local arts, crafts and culinary specialities. There were also activities for children and a great choice of family-friendly attractions. If you enjoyed The Royal Norfolk Show in 2019, make sure you put the 2020 event in your calendar now.

Art Fair East, Norwich
Now in its 5th year the immensely popular Art Fair East was a tremendous success with dozens of exhibitors filling St Andrews Hall, Norwich for this great event.  Here at Musker McIntyre we are very proud to have been supporting this right from the beginning back in 2015.  Showcasing respected galleries, dealers and artists to an Eastern region audience of art lovers, collectors and businesses. The event provides visitors with the chance to see both a wide range of artworks by international and regional artists, plus meet many experts and artists at the event.  Looking forward to the 2020 Fair.

The election
No round up of the year’s news would be complete without at least a brief mention of the recent election. While the policies and promises of the new Government are yet to be put to the test, confidence is already returning to the property market as the country finally sees an end to Brexit uncertainty on the horizon. However, we’ll have to wait to see exactly what the new policies mean for Norfolk and the surrounding area.

Of course this is just a snap shot of all the dozens of events that we at Musker McIntyre were involved with locally within our areas and communities.  We were actively involved in many other events whether large or small - really helping to make a difference to the places that we live and work in.
