Duck Race Champions!

Duck 1st place

Although we love getting involved in all local community events, one of our favourites is the annual Great Bungay Duck Race. A fantastic opportunity for residents, holidaymakers and businesses to come together to enjoy a fun day out, the race has become a firm fixture in the Waveney summer calendar.

The Great Bungay Duck Race

The Great Bungay Duck Race was held on the 8th July in Falcon Meadow. The picturesque site, which is located between Bungay and Ditchingham, was purchased by the community three years ago, ensuring the wildlife and the beautiful views the area offers are protected for future generations.

Local businesses in the Norfolk area sponsor the plastic ducks competing in the race. Before the starting whistle each ‘competitor’ is decorated by its sponsor. A judge then awards a prize for the best-dressed duck. The ducks are then placed in the water so they can race downstream.

Musker McIntyre are proud to announce that this year our duck triumphed in the Great Bungay Duck Race. Though it was a close run thing, our agile competitor was able to out manoeuvre the competition and cross the finish line ahead of the rest. This made our day out in Bungay even more enjoyable and means we’ll definitely return next year to defend our title.

The strong sense of community, both in Bungay and in the wider Norfolk area, is one of the best things about living in the region. As we deal with property, having good relationships with local communities and organisations is even more important. This means we’re always keen to get involved with events in the local area, whether they’re school fetes, fundraising events or duck races.

If you missed out on the Great Bungay Duck Race 2017, don’t worry, there will be lots more events taking place this summer that you can get involved with. From markets and museums to car shows and country fairs, there’s plenty to keep you busy in the town and the surrounding area throughout the summer months.

If you’re thinking about moving to the Norfolk area, paying a visit to Bungay is a great way to get to know the region, its eccentric traditions and its fantastic community. If you fall in love with Bungay and decide it’s the place for you, we can help you to find the perfect property for your move to the East of England.
